Warnett Hallen LLP Lawyers Secure $1.4 Million Verdict for Dentist Hurt in Rear-End Collision

Million Verdict

Warnett Hallen LLP recently scored a substantial win in the British Columbia Supreme Court for a View Royal dentist who suffered career-altering injuries following a rear-end accident in 2018.

Judge Edlyn Laurie awarded $1,475,169.17 to Dr. Cameron Harris, owner of the View Royal Dental Clinic in Greater Victoria. Harris sustained multiple injuries when the car he was riding in was struck from behind, including hand and finger injuries that prevented him from operating a dental drill for more than 10 to 15 minutes without pain.

Harris also experiences limited range of motion in his neck and cannot sit for long periods during dental procedures. Despite over 350 appointments to massage therapists, physiotherapists, and chiropractors, those symptoms have not dissipated.

The $1.4 million verdict includes money for loss of past and future earning capacity, loss of housekeeping capacity, and loss of future care and services. Attorneys Manjot Hallen and Van Sewell represented Dr. Harris at trial.

“This is a case where a young professional experienced a life-changing event that harms his ability to serve patients and earn the livelihood that he could have if the accident never happened,” says Hallen. “The verdict sends a message that negligent drivers will be held accountable in BC, and our firm is proud to continue paving the path for justice for all injured motorists.”
